Bosch JA1010 Jigsaw Guide - Precision Circular & Parallel Cutting Tool for Woodworking (Black) - Perfect for DIY Projects, Carpentry, and Home Renovations

Item that I received is different from the website picture and is a different version than what is described in the instructions that came with the guide. Not sure how well it will hold up, and installing on my saw is a very tight fit making adjustment very difficult. The guide part number matches what is referenced as an optional accessory in the manual that came with my saw. looking at the guide's instruction sheet you have to guess a lot as to how it installs on the saw. It can be installed though. For circle cuts you will have to experiment with the positioning of the pivot pin to get the proper arc. The guide that I received has 4 possible pivot pin positions to choose from which I'm sure has to do with the type of blade being used and whether the cut is an inside or outside radius cut.There is no info given to help you on the instruction sheet. You will have to experiment with some scrap wood and different blades to learn what works the best for your project. Overall I'm not impressed with this guide - over priced to say the least as with most Bosch products.It could really use another 3 or 4 inches. Widest parallel cut I could make was 8"Ordered this guide because the one I used on my other jigsaws would not work on my Bosch jigsaw. I don’t do a bunch of circles or arks with a jigsaw but needed this to finish a project. Works as intended and overall I have no issues with mounting or use. As with all Bosch accessories the cost is way out of line vs the actual value.I am a big Bosch fan, so was slightly disappointed in this jig, but overall it is fine. There is not much to it, so kind of hard for it to be spectacular or horrible. Once you get the jig onto the saw, a little fiddling to get the pieces all sorted out, it held the saw pretty snugly. The centering pin is sharp and I was able to stab it into a 2X6 pretty easily.In typical Bosch fashion, there is always attention to detail. All the pieces of the jig, the centering pin, the brackets, all fit onto the handle of the jig to keep it nice and neat.I needed to round off the end of a 2X6 and the circle jig made the task easy and it looked quite good after I was done. The Bosch jig saw I used, the Bosch JS470EB made easy work of the task.Overall I was slightly underwhelmed as I was expecting some super amazing item, it being from Bosch, but I have no complaints about the quality or functionality of the jig. I don't really know what I was expecting, but the jig does what it is supposed to do, and it does it well.I purchased this to cut holes in plywood using a Bosch JS572E jig saw. The product drawings on the instructions DID NOT MATCH THE PRODUCT! So plan on figuring it out yourself. I recommend you practice on a piece of scrap one or two times.Also, the assembly instructions were very ambiguous and unclear, so it is easy to put the clips on in a way that doesn't work. If the clips are installed rotated 180 degrees on the bar, the clip loosens and bends when lock screw is tightened. This is not clear from the instructions. You will also get the best stability if you install the clip on the far side of the jig saw from the jig rather than the near side as shown in the instructions, but this shortens the available cutting radius.This was usable, but the instructions were a big disappointment. I'm willing to pay more for Bosch tools, but they need to keep their end of the bargain and provide really good, well thought out instructions. This is part of the quality I pay them for, and I expect to get it.the jigsaw with the circle cutter may work in some circumstances. the blade in the jigsaw must be specified to cut circles. If standard straight cutting, then the blade bends and cuts the plastic in the circle jig and creates beveled circles not circular. the provider for the circle jig did not include user instructions. the blade is most important for small size, not standard size 1/4inch., else the results are unpredictable. 7/7/2019Haven’t used it yet. For the price paid, I would have expected more metal in its construction for a Bosch product. Feels flimsy. This fence should have been included with all Bosch jigsaws and not as an accessory to purchase.takes a delicate touch and too much effort to keep this from cutting a spiral instead of a circle. Clamps are clunky. Annoying that it doesn't go into the dedicated spot in the case either.I was surprised at how nice a job it does ripping, was able to replicate a piece of face frame and just drop that in.Considering it's primary use is to cut circles, I'm better off with any of the universal guides or shopmade.I found that the guide was difficult to control on thin material due to the design of the fence. For think material it would slide over or bind. A full one piece 1 inch fence would probably work better. The mounting slides fit my bosch 18v saw but the clips that hold it in place bind (needed a hammer tap to remove) when installed like instructions. Worked a little better when turned around and just used as stops but they you lose the range of cuts you can make. If it were $10 i might have kept it around but for almost $50 it's in the return envelope.Every accessories I bought for my Bosch tools fit and work like it's was designed to be.Love the perfect circle making , part of this attachement.Once you fix it to you proper circle or with it stay well in place.With the added quality of Bosch blades you are in the pro category .It would have been helpful for this product to come with adequate instructions.
