I'm a professional maker of fine furniture. I'm always looking for more efficient ways to shape curves. I frequently use rasps, but they are too inefficient for large surfaces. I purchased two of these for help smooth joints and fare curves for the seat and back of a chair (both convex and concave surfaces). I was super happy with them. The knob grip allows you to direct the work to the center of the rasp and the offset handle allow you to work beyond the edge of the piece. This rasp removes material quickly, yet it doesn't cut so deep as to leave a nasty surface. I was able to remove all tool marks by sanding with progressive grits from 60 to 240.
