BOSCH GCB10-5 Professional Deep-Cut Band Saw with 10-Inch Cutting Capacity - Heavy Duty Metal & Wood Cutting Tool for DIY Projects and Construction Work

I purchased this one because it's about $50 cheaper than competitors like Milwaukee and I only use it occasionally.Positives: strong motor, speed controlNegatives: blade access doors and hinges seem flimsy, not as high quality as Milwaukee saws I've used overallMine had an issue right out of the box where it just didn't run. Pulled the trigger and nothing happened. Scratched my head and tried a few things like pushing the drive wheels around and adjusting the speed but nothing worked and then it started working for no apparent reason. It still gives me the same intermittent issue after a few uses. I contacted Bosch for support and we'll see where it ends up.Update: Bosch had me send the saw to New Jersey for repair at their cost and they replaced the switch. When it came back it worked a for a few small tasks then it was back to the same unresponsive state. Bosch had me pack it up a second time and they replaced the "electronic control" whatever that is. When it came back the second time it worked for one small job and then back to the now familiar scenario where I pull the trigger and nothing happens. I guess I got a lemon. Really wishing I'd payed the extra $50 for a Milwaukee. I'll be pushing Bosch for a full refund at this point so I can do just that.It is a heavy saw but works and saws great.This is a decent band saw. It worked great the first day. The next few days I've tried to use it i had to smack it right on the motor to get it to turn, and cut. I Checked the motor brushes just to be safe, and those are fine. Kind of frustrating, since it's a new toy...A great saw. More than the sum of its parts. I use it on tool steel with a small accessory table. It is wired so that I cannot use a foot switch, but I like it anyway. Powerful and reliable.First saw ran roughly 5 minutes and the motor went up in smoke. Amazon replaced the saw and so far the new one has been holding up well. Used it for about 20 minutes. Has plenty of power for what I need and light weight too. Not terribly impressed with the quality of the door to change blades. It's made of very thin metal with light duty hingesTool quality is great, price is awesomeVery sturdy, nicely made. Great saw, would buy it again if needed.Great saw.I’ve been looking at portable bandsaws for quite awhile and really wanted the Dewalt deep cut cordless model (as I’m already invested in the 20v and flexvolt line).Due to cost and my anticipated DIY use I was in reality considering the PrincessA or the Wen units. This unit came up on sale (280cad) not much more than the WEN so I couldn’t resist.The saw is well built (it’s a Bosch) and has many useful features such as an extensive metal blade cover, led light, variable speed and soft start. Note the reviews on YouTube state that this electronic start up means that you cannot use a remote on/off switch (with the trigger strapped on) if the unit is mounted in a table. The electrical cord is vey long with that quality rubbery feel. I specifically mention this as it was not expected in this price range (sale).The only thing missing was a protective case for traveling.The stock blade is very fine pitched.I purchase some 10-14 blades by Starrett on Amazon (18cad). The reviews were not spectacular but it was an inexpensive way to have spares on hand.Search Starrett BM1014 Bi-Metal Unique Porta-Band Blade, 44-7/8-Inch by 1/2-Inch by 0.020-Inch, 3 PackI see they are now available only from third party sellers (at a much higher price) but amazon often restocks items.Happy camper so far.Excellent bandsaw. The balance makes for easy one handed operation (not recommended) but tried it to see. Helpful having a speed control. Very very happy with this tool. Impressed my friend which isn't easy to do. He's buying one too.Got suckered into getting this during Prime days. it works as it should. I have made it into a little table mounted unit. The light is nice.
